Book Launch Party For “Thinking About Quitting Medicine”

DURHAM, NC — Durham Family Medicine is hosting a book launch and signing party for the new release Thinking About Quitting Medicine. This event will take place on March 18 at Durham Family Medicine (2400 Broad St. Ste. 1 Durham, NC 27704) from 3-5pm. Authors will be in attendance, and hors d’oeuvres and cocktails will be served.

Thinking About Quitting Medicine is a book of gathered physicians sharing their own personal experiences throughout their careers in medicine. The authors consist of doctors, medical school professors, to locum tenens practitioners, and so on. The book’s main focus is to guide the current generation of upcoming and new physicians to find a path in medicine that best benefits them.

The 13 authors that assisted with curating this material all have extensive backgrounds in the medical field. Each chapter has the author’s voice and flavor in a SOAP note form about the trials and tribulations of medical work and finding your passion.

A reviewer, Stacey D. Moore-Olufemi, has said, “I thoroughly enjoyed this book. All the physicians come from various backgrounds, practice different specialties, but all experienced a shift away from the traditional, safe path laid before them and pursued alternative avenues in and out of medicine. I hope the dialogue continues and more physicians that are going through these transitions speak out!”
