Snoop Dogg and 2Pac first collaborated on the track “2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted” from 2Pac’s All Eyez On Me album. Snoop has also credited himself with bringing 2Pac to the now-defunct Death Row Records at the height of its dominance in the industry in the ’90s.

TMZ sources claimed that Dr. Dre was close to signing on to perform with other West Coast stars in the planned tribute. The performance is expected to feature three songs, with collaborations such as “California Love” and “2 of Americas Most Wanted.” The festivities will have a modern feeling with Tupac’s inclusion that will spice the night.

Tupac’s memory will be honored this year with All Eyez on Me, a biopic set to hit theaters June 16. On the same note, the USA Network is developing a television series titled Unsolved, which gives details of the murders of Tupac and Biggie featuring Marc Rose as Tupac, a role the actor previously played in 2015’s Straight Outta Compton.

“My relationship with Tupac was like two close siblings,” Snoop Dogg said on “Cocktails Khloe” last year. “We were the same age, so it was a relationship where we looked and admired at each other.”

Tupac died in 1996 when he was shot more than six times, making bullet penetrate his lungs. The doctors tried to revive him but proved futile due to the internal bleeding.

His greatest hits gained sales of over 75 million in 2007. The media ranks him as one of the greatest and influential artists.
