Black Women in Business: Obtaining, Maximizing Women & Minority Business Certifications

Black Women in Business will host their Third Thursday Leadership Conversation on June 22 at American Underground. The topic will be Certifications for Women-owned and Minority Owned Businesses: How to get them and increase your revenue with them.

Black Women in BusinessThe featured speaker is La-Tasha Best-Gaddy, a Business Counselor at the Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) at N.C. Central University.  She provides services to existing business owners in Durham and Person Counties.

Prior to SBTDC, Best-Gaddy worked in various management positions at NC Institute of Minority Economic Development (The Institute).  She was the Executive Director of Public Allies North Carolina, a program of the Institute and AmeriCorps national service network.  Through her leadership at The Institute, the organization received state and national recognition and funding on entrepreneurship, student debt, housing, and credit.  As a result of her work, research and policy has changed in the areas of credit and student debt

This session is for you if you are:

–Interested in learning about the various certifications available for women/minority-owned businesses.
–Trying to determine if you should obtain a certification such as WEBENC, HUB, and others.
–Interested in getting tips and advice on how to complete applications for certifications.

–Already have a certification, and want tips and advice on how to use it to increase your revenue
