Stanley Baird

Stanley Baird is an acclaimed musician, composer, and entertainer. He has not only become a household name in his home state of North Carolina but has also achieved recognition as an educator at both the public and university level.

Because Baird believes the future of jazz music lies in the hands of rising instrumentalists and vocalists, he strongly advocates the exposure of music to underprivileged youth.

In 1991, Stanley formed The Stanley Baird Group and has since released seven CDs with Big Daddy being the latest release. Baird’s music is described as smooth jazz with an R&B and Latin infusion.

With a Master’s degree in Music Education, Baird served as a band instructor in the North Carolina public school system for 35 years. He got his start teaching in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. It was during his time in St. Croix that Baird was first exposed to West Indian and Latin music.

This influence is heard through his music. Stanley has shared the concert stage with his mentor Donald Byrd, Najee, Alex Bugnon, Regina Belle, Richard Elliot, Brian McKnight, Kirk Whalum, Kim Waters, The O’Jays and the late George Howard.

The Stanley Baird Group will celebrate their recent CD release, Big Daddy, with a CD Release Party hosted by Beyu Caffe in Durham, NC on August 19, 2017.
