Eagle’s Women’s Basketball Coach to Hold Meet and Greet

DURHAM, NC – Fans will have the opportunity to meet new North Carolina Central University women’s basketball head coach Trisha Stafford-Odom during a meet-and-greet gathering on Wednesday, Aug. 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rookie’s Sports Bar (4911 Central Park Drive), located off Miami Boulevard near I-40 in Durham.

Fans are encouraged to take their lunch break at Rookie’s to meet the new head coach and her staff during this open-house-style event. There will be an unlimited pizza buffet, featuring specialty and dessert pizzas, with salad bar and a beverage for $9.99 (plus tax). Fans may also order from the lunch menu.

Stafford-Odom was announced as NCCU’s ninth women’s basketball head coach on May 8. She has a reputation as one of the nation’s top recruiters and brings 10 years of coaching experience to the Lady Eagles program, including local stints at UNC and Duke.

The former Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) player and collegiate hall of fame inductee returns to The Triangle to continue her head coaching career after last coaching three seasons at Concordia University Irvine from 2013-2016. Prior to that, Stafford-Odom was a successful assistant coach for four seasons with both the UNC Tar Heels and Duke Blue Devils. She began her collegiate coaching career as an assistant for the UCLA Bruins.
