Duke’s Boykin Out For The Season

DURHAM, NC – Duke women’s basketball freshman guard Mikayla Boykin will miss the remainder of the 2017-18 season after suffering a left knee injury in the Blue Devils’ 101-30 win over Winthrop Sunday, Dec. 10.

Boykin started the first eight contests of the season and averaged 4.6 points, 3.2 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals a game.  The 5-9 guard from Clinton, N.C., opened her collegiate career on the road at Grand Canyon with a season-high 12 points and was a preseason ACC Newcomer Watch List selection.  Boykin was the Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of North Carolina as a senior at Clinton H.S., while averaging 37.4 points, 13.7 rebounds and 6.5 assists, 5.6 steals.

Duke returns to action Tuesday, Dec. 19 following final exams as the Blue Devils host Maine at 7 p.m., in Cameron Indoor Stadium. The game will be aired live on ACC Network Extra.
