Free Throws Help Lady Wolfpack Stave Off Elon 70-57

Kaila Ealey NC State Free Throws

RALEIGH, NC – NC State hit 15-18 free throws in the fourth quarter to hold on to their lead as they would prevail over the Elon Lady Phoenix 70-57.

Chelsea Nelson led the way in the first half with 11 points and five rebounds. Nelson would finish the game with her fifth double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

In the last two games, the Lady Wolfpack have made 24-28 (86%) free throws in the fourth quarter after hitting 15-18 (83%) in the fourth quarter today.

Elon was led by Ra’Shika White, who put up 20 points and eight rebounds. The Lady Phoenix fought very hard in the second half, cutting the deficit down to five points with 1:27 remaining in the fourth quarter, but Kaila Ealey would hit nine of her ten straight attempts down the stretch to seal the deal for NC State.

Coach Moore mentioned that his goal for his team entering to the game tonight was to put together a full 40-minute game, which he felt like his team failed at for another game this season. “I do not think we quite did that tonight,” citing giving up 10 second half fast break points and allowing Elon’s White to dominate in the post late in the game.

The Lady Wolfpack will head to Vanderbilt to face the Lady Commodores on Tuesday, December 19th at 6 pm.
