Cardi B Drops New Single, ‘Bartier Cardi,’ Featuring 21 Savage

Grammy nominee Cardi B rounds out a big year with a new single, “Bartier Cardi,” featuring 21 Savage. While the provocative rapper has been everywhere in 2017 — she’s currently featured on– G-eazy’s “No Limit” with A$AP Rocky, Migos’ “Motorsport” with Nicki Minaj, and Ozuna’s “La Modelo” – is the official follow-up to “Bodak Yellow,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks.While “Bodak Yellow” is her first hit, Cardi has been in the spotlight for several years, thanks to her role on the VH1 reality TV series “Love & Hip Hop: New York,” where she made her debut as a cast member in 2015 during season six. She released her first single “Cheap Ass Weave” during her first year on the show and an appearance on reggae superstar Shaggy’s single “Boom Boom.” She left the show last December and signed with Atlantic early in 2017. She inked a worldwide deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing back in October. The Bronx, New York-born MC is currently working on her first studio album, which is expected to be released in early 2018.

C. C. H. Pounder Launches a New Orleans Art Exhibition Celebrating Black Female Power & Beauty

You may recognize Carol Christine Hilaria “C. C. H.” Pounder from her numerous film and television roles. The Guyanese American actress, who currently plays Dr. Loretta Wade on CBS’ “NCIS: New Orleans,” recently launched a new art exhibit called “Queen,” exploring black female beauty and power. Showcased at Xavier University Art Gallery, the exhibit features works from Pounder’s private collection.  Working with Xavier’s gallery director Sarah Clunis, and art collection manager, Daniele S. Gair, Pounder selected pieces from her collection that focused on black women with specific focus on feminine beauty, identity and power. Included in the “Queen” exhibit, centered around the Rosales’ painting, “Birth of Oshun,” are works by Betye and Alison Saar, Kehinde Wiley, Mickalene Thomas, Robert Pruitt and Xavier alumnus Steve Prince. Pounder, a graduate and holder of an honorary doctorate of fine arts from Ithaca College, also included her own created pieces in the exhibit. The exhibit is open to the public, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, free of charge, and will be on display through Feb. 26.

Dave Chappelle to Drop Two Netflix Specials on New Year’s Eve

Dave Chappelle will release two original Netflix stand up comedy specials on New Year’s Eve instead of just one as first announced, the streaming giant said on Dec. 22nd. In addition to the previously announced special “Equanimity,” the iconic comedian will also release the special “The Bird Revelation.” They will mark Chappelle’s third and fourth Netflix specials to be released this year. He has also released “The Age of Spin: Dave Chappelle Live at the Hollywood Palladium” and “Deep in the Heart of Texas: Dave Chappelle Live at Austin City Limits,” though both of those were filmed prior to his deal with Netflix. The first two marked Chappelle’s first released specials in over a decade. He also appeared in the “Def Comedy Jam” 25th anniversary special for Netflix earlier this year.

Mariah Carey Will Return to ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’ Stage

Mariah Carey is returning to the scene of her 2016-2017 New Year’s Eve debacle — Times Square in New York City — for a “redemptive” performance, Variety has confirmed. The singer, who famously suffered a major technical malfunction during her previous performance for “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest,” and spent her airtime vamping for the camera without singing a note, will once again take the stage at 11:45 p.m. This time, she’s expected to have a grand production more in line with her Las Vegas residency with a full band and dancers. Production company Dick Clark Productions made the ask of Carey, who is now being managed by Roc Nation, and she agreed without hesitation, says a source.

Other performances set for the show, which airs on ABC, include Camila Cabello, Nick Jonas and Sugarland in addition to Britney Spears, who will appear via remote from her “Piece Of Me” show in Las Vegas.

John Legend To Play Role In NBC Musical ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’

John Legend has been cast as Jesus Christ in NBC’s next live musical, “Jesus Christ Superstar,” it was announced Dec. 19th morning on NBC’s “Today” show. The Oscar, Tony and 10-time Grammy winner also joins the team of executive producers for the musical, set to air live on Easter Sunday, April 1 under the official title, “Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert!” The 1971 musical, which was nominated for five Tony’s, is based on the final week of Jesus’ life. The rock opera will be staged in front of a live audience at the Marcy Armory in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood.

Terrence Howard, Wesley Snipes Others To Star In New Film On Hurricane Katrina

Terrence Howard, Wesley Snipes, T.I. and Demetrius Shipp Jr. are about to be in the same film together. reports that the three are starring in a film called Cut Throat City a film about four childhood friends who return home to Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina. They find their homes were taken away by flood waters along with any hope of starting a life there as well. Desperate for help, they turn to a gang leader who hires them to rob a casino in the middle of the city. Joining the cast will be RZA from Wu-Tang Clan, Rob Morgan from Mudbound and many other talented actors. The film is currently being filmed in New Orléans.
