The term Millennial is usually considered to apply to individuals who reached adulthood around the turn of the 21st century.  Fortune.com describes the black millennial in America as sophisticated, optimistic, exuberant and reflective. They’re influential. They’re bold.

Seventy percent of African Americans between the ages of 18 and 35 are fascinated by new technology, and they’re more likely to be the first among friends or colleagues to try new tech products. Their sophisticated use of social media isn’t just for shopping or driving brand awareness, their online behaviors are driving a deeper understanding of the issues that impact society at large.

Honestly, the report describes the most awesome group of people you could possibly imagine. However, millennials also dislike the moniker, so Spectacular Magazine has opted to recognize these 18 – 35 year olds as Emerging Leaders. For that reason and others, Spectacular Magazine will present the Inaugural Spectacular Magazine Emerging Leader of the Year Awards Program.

Awards will be presented in the following categories: Arts, Activism, Beauty, Community Service, Education, Entrepreneurship, Fitness, Social Media Influence, and Technology. The selection process will mirror that of the other two award programs. Nominations and voting will be accepted on-line in nine (9) categories.

GALA

The black-tie Inaugural Spectacular Magazine Emerging Leader of the Year Awards Gala will be held May 20, 2018 at the Millennium Hotel (2800 Campus Walk Ave. – Durham, NC). Individual tickets are $65 and table of ten is $650. Table sponsorship (purchase table and allow us to seat Semi-finalists at your table also includes a full page, full color ad in program book).
