Neil deGrasse Tyson
November 16 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Fan-favorite astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson will return for his third engagement at DPAC on November 16, 2017. His first two engagements were sold out. The award-winning scientist will captivate guests by sharing his insights into modern cosmology, astrophysics, and all manner of things about the universe. This lecture is presented in part by DPAC, Live Nation Entertainment, and the UNC Morehead Planetarium & Science Center.
“We are excited to be a part of bringing Neil deGrasse Tyson back to the Triangle. He is a dynamic speaker and an amazing ambassador for science. Neil enlightens us while he entertains us. He is our generation’s Carl Sagan,” said Todd Boyette, Director of the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center.
Tyson is the recipient of twenty honorary doctorates and the NASA Distinguished Public Service Medal, the highest award given by NASA to a non-government citizen. His contributions to the public appreciation of the cosmos have been recognized by the International Astronomical Union in their official naming of asteroid 13123 Tyson. On the lighter side, Tyson was voted “Sexiest Astrophysicist Alive” by People Magazine in 2000.
Tyson’s latest book, released in May 2017 is Astrophysics for People In A Hurry. This adorably readable book is an introduction to all that you’ve read, and heard about that’s making news in the universe — consummated, in one place, succinctly presented, for people in a hurry.
