Duke Blue Devils Countdown to Craziness Recap
Durham, NC – Friday night, Duke University hosted their annual Countdown to Craziness. C2C is a preseason pep rally that includes an array of entertainment with the grand finale being the introduction of the latest Duke Blue Devils basketball team. The team usually splits in to two separate teams and has a scrimmage; this year was no different. There was an added dunk competition in the end which was pretty awesome.
The Blue team defeated the White team 43-41 on Friday. The Blue team was led by freshman duo Gary Trent, Jr and Wendell Carter, Jr. Trent, Jr, the 6-foot-6 guard from Columbus had 13 points while Carter, Jr, a 6-foot-10 forward from Atlanta added 11 points to the mix.
The White team was led by senior captain Grayson Allen. Allen finished with 13 points on four-of-nine shooting effort from behind the arc and a lone free throw. Freshman sensation Marvin Bagley III turned in 12 points and four rebounds in his first night in a Duke jersey. Bagley III, the number-one ranked recruit in the class of 2018, reclassified in the summer and graduated early to be eligible to enroll at Duke in the fall of 2017. The Phoenix-native is wearing the number 35 this season, retired in the name of Duke great Danny Ferry. Ferry granted Bagley III the permission to wear the number this season.

Also, Zion Williamson (6-foot-6 forward – #2 ranked player in the Class of 2018) and Isaiah Todd (6-foot-10 forward – #1 ranked player in the Class of 2020) were in attendance among the list of recruits. Williamson is a must-watch player and is often compared to LeBron James the way he attacks the rim with his athleticism. If you have not seen Zion Williamson play, click here.
Duke will host their first of two preseason exhibition games next Friday night as they will host Northwest Missouri State in Cameron Indoor at 7 pm.
