Lawrence & Artelia Perry Scholarship Fund 6th Annual Legacy Luncheon Will Honor Retired Clergy

Lawrence & Artelia Perry, he a minister and she an Early Childhood Educator in Durham and Chatham counties, are both natives of Durham and residents of the West End community. Together they successfully parented 16 children, 13 of their 16 children to earn undergraduate degrees and beyond, and two to earn 2-year degrees.
Eleven L&APSF Legacy Honorees will be recognized this year. The 2018 Legacy Honorees are Rev. Thelma Battle, Rev. Dr. William E. Daye, Rev. Dr. Murray L. Edwards, Rev. Dr. Kenneth R. Hammond, Rev. Dr. Percy L. High, Rev. Lacy L. Joyner, Bishop Elroy Lewis, Reverend Lorenzo A. Lynch, Rev. Thomasenia B. Shaw, Rev. Dr. Adolphus Smith, and Rev. Gussie Dixon Thompson.
The L&APSD is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, which benefits students who are graduates of Durham public schools and are enrolled at Bennett College in Greensboro, Livingstone College in Salisbury, and North Carolina Central University. With financial contributions from L&APSF supporters, $12,000 in scholarships will be awarded during the Legacy Luncheon.
Funds are awarded directly to students for purchases of supplies, equipment, or books; or to pay fees for academic and extracurricular activities, which are necessary for the student to profit maximally from the college experience.
