Local BBQ Company, Mike D’s BBQ, Wins Big Again At The BBQ Festival On The Neuse

Durham, NC –  Mike D’s BBQ of Durham, NC returned to the BBQ Festival on the Neuse in Kinston, NC this past weekend (May 5-6). The Sauce Boss competition that is part of the festival has two competitions in one both done by blind judging.

First, the judges score the sauces and then the public has a chance to taste and vote for their favorite. This year, Mike D’s BBQ won 1st place from the judges in the professional division with their BIG Sauce. Last year, Mike D’s BBQ won the People’s Choice award for the Professional Division and finished 2nd from the Judges. Now every product produced by the company has won at least one award.

Founder of the business Michael De Los Santos said, “It has been an amazing last 12 months with all our products winning awards during that span including a world championships, it continues to validate our growing company that we are on the right path.”

Mike D’s BBQ has been in business since December 2013 selling a signature line of BBQ Sauces and Dry Rubs. They have shipped to 36 states and 3 countries. Products are available at 9 local retailers across NC and will soon be available at the Morgan Street Food Hall in Raleigh. They are also active in local popup markets and festivals.

On May 13th Mike D’s BBQ will be at the Downtown Cary Food & Flea and on May 18-20 at the Got To Be NC Festival. Their current product line is two sauces, BIG Sauce (Mild) and Spicy BBQ. It also includes two dry rubs All-Purpose (2017 World Champ) and Sweet & Spicy (placed 3rd in the World in 2017). They also offer select grill tools and accessories from Man Law BBQ and some branded apparel.
