Bulls Struggle To Find Hits, Fall 13-0
DURHAM, NC – The Durham Bulls struggled to figure out Norfolk Tide’s David Hess to fall 13-0 on their Education Day game. With today being Education Day, the crowd was filled with students from over 40 local schools.
Right-handed pitcher Chih-Wei Hu got the start for the Bulls. Despite giving up a leadoff double to Norfolk’s Ruben Tejada, Hu managed to get out of the first inning with only one unearned run. Norfolk managed to get sacrifice fly by Alex Pressley to get Tejada over to third base, Tejada would come around to score two batters later on a Drew Dosch single in the top of the first inning.
The Bulls would go to the bullpen to bring in RHP Forrest Snow to replace Chih-Wei Hu after just one inning. Hu went one inning, giving up two hits and one run.
Snow struggled over the span of the fourth and fifth innings, giving up five hits and five runs to give the Tide a 6-0 advantage over the Bulls
Snow ended with a line of four innings pitched, six hits allowed, and five runs allowed – all of which were earned runs. Snow did manage to register six strikeouts but did have three walks as well.
Willy Adames broke up the no-hitter that Norfolk’s David Hess was working on in the bottom of the seventh inning. Hess was pulled in the eighth inning with only one hit allowed and ten strikeouts in his seven innings of pitching.
Bulls pitcher Jaime Schultz would walk three straight batters before giving up a moon shot grand slam to DJ Stewart to right field. The home team, now down 10-0, would call on third baseman Brandon Snyder to finish the game. Snyder gave up a double on his first pitch to Garabez Rosa before gifting Jaycob Brugman with a perfect pitch to get his first homerun of the season and put the Bulls down 13.
