Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Announces Its Annual Educational Scholarships Recipients

Chapel Hill, NC – Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated encourages and supports the advancement of educational opportunities for all. The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta carries out the charge by awarding scholarships to graduating students in the chapter’s service area of Orange and Chatham Counties. The chapter has awarded over $170,000 in scholarship aid to 232 students since its chartering on March 18, 1979.

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. recently awarded $3,500.00 in scholarships to three (3) graduating seniors in Chatham and Orange County schools.  A brunch reception for the students and their families was held on June 2 at the Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill.

Jerrai Burns (Chapel Hill High School) will attend the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and was awarded $1,500.00; Kahlil Barnett (Cedar Ridge High School) will attend East Carolina University, and was awarded $1,000.00; and Ednaya Hackney (Northwoods High School) will attend High Point University, and was awarded $1,000.00.
