Durham’s Women’s Equality March & Rally: “I Am Worthy”

Durham, NC – Durham’s Fourth Annual “Women’s Equality March and Rally” is Thursday August 23, 2018, from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm, in downtown Durham. On this day organizers will recognize women’s progress and champion the continued push for women’s equal rights.  This year’s theme is “I am Worthy.”

Participants will gather at 4:30 pm at the Durham County Register of Deeds office downtown Durham (Old Courthouse – 200 E. Main Street) and march to Durham Central Park (501 Foster Street) to enjoy a terrific rally including speakers, performance artists, skits, live music bands, vendor, exhibitors, children’s activities and food trucks.

For individuals that choose not to march can gather at Durham Centeral Park at 4:00 pm for live entertainment, vendor, exhibitors, and activites.

“Women’s Equality Day” commemorates the certification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution granting American women the right to vote in 1920. This occasion has been celebrated since 1973 by Presidential Proclamation. The victory of “Women’s Equality Day” will be celebrated at the Women’s Equality March and Rally on Thursday when we mark this special occasion and take the opportunity to join forces to push forward on eliminating all discrimination against women.
