#Motiv8Mondays – Rwenshaun Miller
Welcome to Spectacular Magazine Independent Artist of the Week, the latest Spectacular Magazine weekly feature. Each week Raven Nicole Gibbs (professionally known as Raven Nicole), founder of the non-profit organization Motiv8, Inc., will feature an up-and-coming artist of various genres. This week we are featuring Rwenshaun Miller.
1. Who are you?
I am Rwenshaun Miller from Charlotte, NC and my goal is to be who I needed when I was younger.
2. How did you start?
I started with my personal battle with Bipolar Disorder and multiple suicide attempts. After the failed attempts, I got the help that I needed and saw a void in our community that needed to be filled.
3. What is your genre/profession?
I am a Therapist, Mental Health Change Agent and Author
4. Who are your musical or artistic influences?
Storytelling ability of the Notorious B.I.G.
5. What Motiv8s you?
Helping others acknowledge and address their mental health issues Motiv8s me. We are resilient people but once we are able to address issues that we attempt to hide, we can be unstoppable.
6. Do you have any upcoming projects, shows, or appearances? What are your next steps?
The Eustress Inc. Mental Health Triage clinic is scheduled to open soon.
The 3rd Annual Bertie County Let’s Talk About It Mental Health Awareness Walk will talk place September 8th and the 4th Annual Chapel Hill Let’s Talk About It Mental Health Awareness Walk will take place on November 4th!
Also, because over 60% of inmates in local jails and 50% of inmates in state prisons suffer from some type of mental illness and many inmates don’t know that they are suffering, they don’t know that there are resources available to help them. This is an issue Eustress, Inc. can no longer ignore.
The term “eustress” means stress that is deemed healthful or giving one the feeling of fulfillment. Eustress, Inc. has launched the “Pathway to Eustress” campaign to get my book, Injured Reserve, into the hands of as many members of detention centers as possible. We believe that this book, which provides a first-hand account of living with mental illness and surviving suicide attempts, as well as tools and methods for promoting mental wellness, will help incarcerated men find a path to feelings of fulfillment.
Our goal is to share a copy of Rwenshaun Miller’s book, Injured Reserve, with at least 100,000 inmates in jails/prisons/detention centers across the country.
Just $10 can put a book in a man’s hand and change a hopeless outlook into a hopeful one.
