NFL Digital Media Unveils New Product Features and Content Offering Fans a Deeper Connection to the Game
NFL Digital Media announces a complete lineup of products, features and series that not only ensure fans never miss a game wherever they are, but also provides a deeper connection to the conversations, players and teams they love to follow.
Live game streaming will be more broadly available than ever before. For the first time, live local and most primetime games are available on phones and tablets across all wireless carriers at no charge through the NFL app, Yahoo Sports and other Verizon-owned mobile properties. NFL Network exclusive games are available for OTT streaming on phones and require authentication on tablets and other devices. Fans can access live games on desktop and connected TV devices by logging in with their TV provider on NFL.com, the NFL app, or the applicable TV network or provider’s digital platform. NFL Sunday Ticket customers will also be able to stream through NFL and DirecTV apps and sites.
NFL RedZone and NFL Network are available across devices on an authenticated basis through the NFL app and NFL.com.
In addition to accessing live games, the redesigned NFL app includes an all-new Game Center that provides up-to-the-minute scoring, in-game highlights, statistical insights and animated drive charts. On phones, fans can also access NFL Network live, as well as subscribe to NFL RedZone.
“From the redesigned NFL app to new live shows, our digital team is driven to develop products, platforms and content franchises that keep a highly engaged NFL fan base connected to the game, teams and players they love,” said David Jurenka, NFL Senior Vice President of Digital Media. “We’re excited to unveil more content across our digital and social channels that bring fans even closer to all the moments that make every NFL season special.”
Complementing the live game viewing experience is a host of digital-first programming that engages a social media-savvy NFL audience.
The Checkdown, NFL Digital Media’s football culture brand, expands to a live show streaming on Twitter every Thursday and Sunday from 7:45-8:15 pm ET to engage a young and differentiated audience and drive them into the Thursday NightFootball and Sunday Night Football match-ups that follow.
Hosted by a rotating cast of personalities including NFL Network host Colleen Wolfe, NFL Network analyst James Jones and comedian Megan Gailey, The Checkdown aggregates the buzziest conversations happening throughout the week on social to a live interactive digital audience.
“Twitter is a natural platform for us to build excitement around the NFL and leverage the live conversations fans are already having on game days, said Mark Pesavento, NFL Media Vice President of Digital Content. “As a social brand, The Checkdown show offers our audience a connection into the primetime games from a voice that resonates with them.”
Gailey and Jones will serve as hosts of the first three Thursday editions of The Checkdown, as well as the regular hosts every Sunday. Starting Week 4, Wolfe will be joined by a rotation of NFL Network analysts including Michael Irvin, Steve Smith Sr., and Reggie Bush.
In addition to The Checkdown, NFL Media’s Around the NFL podcast team – Dan Hanzus, Gregg Rosenthal, Marc Sessler and Chris Wesseling – bring their unique take on NFL storylines to the Twitter audience with a new weekly live show streaming Tuesdays from 5:00-6:00 pm ET.
With more than 10 billion minutes of video watched across the NFL’s digital and social properties last year, the NFL Digital Media team has introduced new brands that will continue to deliver compelling content for fans:
