Newspaper columnist and author Erma Bombeck is credited with saying “shopping is a woman thing. It’s a contact sport like football. Women enjoy the scrimmage, the noisy crowds, the danger of being trampled to death, and the ecstasy of the purchase.”

According to a study by BBC “Shopping urges ‘spotted in brain”, researchers discovered the truth of the principle that purchasing is in fact a mental ‘trade-off’ between the pleasure of acquisition and the pain of paying.
