Dianne Pledger Appointed To Chapel Hill Cultural Arts Commission
Chapel Hill, NC – The Chapel Hill Town Council appointed Dianne Pledger, a life-long resident, to the Chapel Hill Cultural Arts Commission at their October 3rd meeting. The Town of Chapel Hill’s Community Arts & Culture effort seeks to enrich the lives of those who live, work and visit Chapel Hill through programs and events that build community and contribute to the vibrancy of the Town. Community Arts & Culture is advised by the Chapel Hill Cultural Arts Commission, an 11-member volunteer board established in 1992 and appointed by the Town Council. Her term ends October 2020.
Pledger is the owner of Pledger Consulting Group, a consulting agency that focuses on providing the critical and strategic consultancy services sought after by nonprofit organizations. Her agency supports and partners with clients to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in meeting established and proposed goals; ensuring continuous quality improvement; and coordinating the delivery of timely results. She possesses extensive experience in fundraising, proposal writing, project development, multi-level collaborations, event management and promotions. Additionally Pledger has over 30 years’ experience managing cultural arts facility and programs with emphasis on the arts, historic preservation and restoration. Programs
Community Arts & Culture administers many programs and projects in Chapel Hill. The Percent for Art Program, established by a 2002 Ordinance, allocates one percent of selected capital projects for the creation and maintenance of works of public art. Funding for the Percent for Art projects comes from each project’s construction budget. Other programs include: Festivals & Community Events such as Festifall, the Near & Far festival and more; an Artists in Residence program that funds local artists to conduct special projects in the Chapel Hill – Carrboro City School system; the Community Art Project, where an artist or artist team engages a particular community in the creation of a public art piece or event; the Downtown Art Program which enlivens the downtown environment with art installations and other types of temporary public art; and the Juried Exhibitions Series which showcases artwork by established and emerging artists at Chapel Hill Town Hall and the Chapel Hill Public Library.
