Ride GoDurham Fare-Free On Election Day
Durham, NC – The City of Durham is making it even easier to get to the polls on Election Day. For the second consecutive year, GoDurham buses will be fare-free all day on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.
According to Director Terry Bellamy with the City’s Transportation Department, the City Administration is aware that a lack of access to transportation can make it difficult for some residents to vote, and hopes that making buses fare-free again this year will encourage residents to try transit as an easy way to get to the polls.
“GoDurham provides great transportation opportunities, and our goal is to remove transportation as a barrier and help people get to the polls and exercise their right to vote,” said Bellamy. “We never want transportation to be a reason why someone didn’t vote, and GoDurham provides the transit alternatives to make this happen since more than 40 polling locations are within an easy walk of a GoDurham route.”
To find a GoDurham route to one of the nearly 60 polling places, which will be open on November 6 from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., visit https://godurhamtransit.org to map the route. Residents may also use the Transloc Rider and Transit mobile apps to plan their trips.
