[#Motiv8Mondays] Solomon Headen: Featured Artist Of The Week
Solomon Headen is a singer, songwriter and producer, based out of Raleigh, NC. He is originally from Sanford, NC, and has a mission to effect all cultures with his testimony and authentic sound. His songwriting style allows him to influence his Christian listeners as well as capture the ear of my non-Christian listeners, opening the door to ministry.
Solomon was raised around music. “My family is a very musical family. My mother is also a singer, so she taught me lots of techniques and tricks as I grew as a singer. I started my musical journey as a drummer. I played in the marching band, as well as serving as the drummer at my church. I also got involved in jazz bands.” These experiences shaped his musical perspective and allowed him to have a wider view on what he could do as an artist. He started producing and writing music with only his headphones and garage band. From there, he began to learn the art of recording and mixing. In the process of doing that, Solomon began working on his first EP “Searching.” That project was totally Written & Produced by him. After “Searching,” he developed a sound that he was proud to call his own, which he applied to “The Winter Collection” which is his newest project.
“I am a Christian/Gospel artist. In some arena’s I could be considered a Christian R&B artist. My profession encompasses writing & producing music for myself and other artists that can help share the story and love of Jesus, while also sharing the perspective of the world from a Christian view point.”
Solomon Headen’s musical influences stem from Jazz, Gospel, R&B, Folk, Country, Hip-Hop, and many more. He is heavily influenced by other songwriters like James Fauntleroy and Kevin McCall. He has also learned a lot from Brandy. “When I was in the process of finding my sound, I learned a lot from the way she stacked vocals and layered her ad-libs. I’ve applied what I’ve learned from the greats before me and I’ve made them authentic to me.”
When asked what Motiv8s him, Solomon quickly replied “God. He is the ULTIMATE creative and I strive to be like him in all ways.” He is also motivated by his family and community. “They all support me and it makes me want to go hard for my dreams every day. Most importantly, I know my purpose. My purpose is to minister to the unchurched by way of music and my testimony. Knowing that, motivates me to continue to be the best version of myself.”
Solomon Headen recently released a project called “The Winter Collection”. It is now available on all media platforms, Apple Music, Spotify, Google Play, Youtube, etc. He also has music videos coming soon. Fans will also get to see some of his production on some great artists projects coming up very soon.
