Capo Vintage Keeps Pop-Up Shop Trending In Durham

Durham, NC – Introduced as early as the 1990s in large urban cities such as London, Los Angeles, Tokyo and New York City, pop-up shop is a trend of opening temporary sales spaces that sell merchandise of any kind. That’s right, just about every consumer product has been sold via a pop-up shop at one point in time. From art to fashion to tech gadgets and food, pop-up stores are exciting because they create short-term stores that are as creative as they are engaging. And, one of Durham’s own is continuing that trend in the Bull City!  

This Saturday (March 23), Alexandria Glenn (known professionally at Allie Capo) and her company Capo Vintage will host a creative Pop-Up Shop Block Party from 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm at The Mothership, located downtown Durham at 401 W. Geer Street. Admission is free and will include opportunity to shop with vendors such as BStill Clothing, Worthy Women, and Hectic Wear to name a few, food trucks, painting, video games and more. There will be live performances by Tha Materials, Aja Marie, Kyd, Capital L, EarthTones, Tanajah and others.

After you shop and enjoy live performances, food from the food trucks, and all the Pop Up Shop has to offer, you can go right across the street for the After Dance Party from 8 pm-1 pm. It’s taking place at the Living Arts Collective at 410 W. Geer Street. More music, light refreshments, networking and a safe place to dance the night away downtown Durham. All for the low admission cost of $7!

“I have created this event to serve as a safe space for creatives to come and share their art, network and be themselves,” says Glenn, Spectacular Magazine Arts & Culture Reporter. “Durham has been going through a lot of changes. That being said, I want to continue to reserve the creatives’ presence in the community and to let Durham know we are still here.”
