Gavin Christianson Bridal Boutique, NC’s Only Black-Owned Bridal Shop, Opens in Downtown Durham

Durham, NC – Wedding season is upon us and there is a new destination around when it comes to seeking your wedding gown. Gavin Christianson Bridal held a soft opening in April, with a Grand Opening to be held in late June 2019. The boutique is located in the Historic Black Wall Street District at 125 E. Parrish Street and is looking forward to serving the Durham area, including those near and far who decide to shop with the boutique whose mission is to provide a unique shopping experience for the customer.

This modern and chic bridal boutique is owned by Gineen Cargo, a Charlotte, North Carolina native, who headed to Durham for Undergrad at North Carolina Central University. Gineen is a seasoned communications strategist with expertise in public relations and event management. She also owns Cargo & Co. Events, a boutique event planning company.

In addition, Gineen also serves as the Project Manager for Durham 150. After several years in the wedding & events industry, Gineen saw a need and began to craft a thoughtfully, curated space for bridal wear, leading to the launch of Gavin Christianson Bridal. 

Who is Gavin Christianson? Gineen’s precious sons are the namesakes of the boutique. She noted that as she is a working Mom and also a wife, it’s her way of having her children with her at all times. As the only Black-owned bridal boutique in North Carolina, she is also creating a legacy for them.

When asked about the excitement of Gavin Christianson Bridal opening, Cargo states:

“It’s definitely surreal. I remember this being just an idea and now it has come to fruition. I will now be able to provide women with the exclusive experience one deserves as they work through planning their special day. I am looking forward to having Gavin Christianson Bridal become a staple in the Durham area and beyond!”
