Three Ways Businesses Are Doing The Dirty
Do you think that every business out there is squeaky clean? Well, hopefully, you don’t because the news is filled with stories each day telling us the business gossip, it’s usually only the big businesses out there that hit the headlines, with the likes of Amazon, Nissan, and many more being the most recent. Business is pretty corrupt, and whilst most of you reading this will most likely have your own small business, it’s usually the big boys that tend to do the dirty. By this, we mean they definitely don’t follow the rules, and a lot of them are going way off the book in order to be as big as they are currently. Even if they’re not doing anything to swindle money, like most are, there are still so many other ways that businesses seem to fly off the rail, simply because they think they’re invincible. And to you, as a small and hopefully sensible business, it might seem mad that you’d ever get to the point where you start steering away from the rules slightly. So, we’re going to explore four ways that big businesses are doing the dirty right now, what will happen when they get caught, and why you should definitely be steering away from any ideas you have. Stick to the straight and narrow, build a legitimate business, and you’ll never experience the downfall some of them do!
Double Crossing Employees
Double-crossing employees is something you really don’t want to start doing, but it’s probably the trap that so many employers fall into, simply because they think it’s so easy to pull the wool over the eyes of those working for them. At the end of the day, if you think you’re at the top and everyone working for you is below you, then you really don’t have the right mindset for business. But, we still see so many cases of employers doing the dirty by fiddling with payslips, and essentially robbing their employees of hard-earned money. Now, this is one that we really can’t get our heads around. Because if your employees are working tirelessly for you, and you’re earning more than they’ll most likely ever be able to earn, then why would you take money from them? We’re hoping this isn’t something you’ll ever do, but as for the reason why others do it… it has to be purely based around greed. Stephenson, Chavarri & Dawson, is just one law firm who deals with cases such as this. It might be easy to think that your employees won’t know what’s going on, but eventually, people do get caught out with this. Employers usually change the payslip to say that the employee has to pay more tax. Now even if this is just by $40 for example, it is still adding up. If you have ten people working for you, that would be $400 a month extra, so it’s easy to see why businesses try and do it.
But at the end of the day, these people are putting their whole life into your business, so they can get so little out. If you try this and get caught out, the fines can be absolutely devastating, and your reputation damaged beyond repair. So try and stay away from any dodgy dealings when it comes to your employees!
Turning A Blind Eye With Finances
Another big one and this is the one that you seem to hear about all of the time in the news. It’s so easy for a business to get carried away with money, and how much is coming in, no matter how big the size of it. As a small business, the pressure to make money is far higher than it has ever been before. We’re going through a time with such an unstable economy, and it’s hard to know what will happen one month from the next. But as a business grows, this worry doesn’t seem to drop. No matter how much money a business brings in, it still seems to find a way to turn a blind eye to some of the financial tamperings going on. So, our top tip that you need to take away from this article, is to always stay on the right side of the financial line. Pay your taxes as you should, and never think about doing the dirty with it. Tax evasion is the number one thing that businesses seem to be doing at the minute. Due to this poor economy that we’re facing, it’s becoming increasingly hard for those who are earning big money, to pay the taxes that come with it, hence why they commit tax fraud. Prison is where you can think about heading if you do this, and if you get away with not going there, then you can definitely think about paying all of the money back, as well as a large penalty for doing the dirty!
