Help Bull City Express Athletes Get To USATF Junior Olympics; 23 Local Youth Qualify

Durham, NC – Bull City Express athletes have qualified for the USA Track & Field (USATF) Junior Olympics in Sacramento, CA starting on July 22-28, 2019.  In all, 23 athletes qualified in 29 individual events and three relays.  The organization is asking the community for assistance in travel, hotel, and meal expenses associated with getting Durham-area youth to California next week to compete. The 8U (age 8 & under) boys had the largest group with 5 qualifiers (Noble Beasley, Jaycob Davis, Christopher Howell, Jayden Lott and Cueston Parks).  All have qualified in individual events and they teamed up for 4×100 and 4x400m relays.  Jordan Boney (80m hurdles, 100m), Jared Cooper (400m, 800m) and Jaidin Thomas (100m, 200m) all qualified in 2 individual events.  Jadon Lillie, Xavier Hasan and Christopher Howell all qualified in the Shot Put. Nazir Brown and Ontario Thompson both qualified in the 400m.  In the middle-distance races, Noble Beasley (800m), Jaycob Davis (1500m) and Tristen Beasley (2000m Steeplechase) qualified.

Aria Alexander (400m, Long Jump) and Gabrielle Davis (100m, 200m) lead a very strong group of girls ages 9-10; they also helped the group of young ladies qualify in the 4x400m relay (Cristina Scott -Ramos, Gabrielle Davis, Liana McKever, Aria Alexander).  Ashlyn Hudson, last year’s champion and record setter in the age 9-10 Girls Triathlon, is in the age 11-12 Girls Pentathlon, 80m Hurdles, and High Jump while her older sister qualified in the 100m, 100m hurdles, and 200m hurdles.  Two other sisters looking to make the trip are Krystalynn Johnson, 100m hurdles, and Alysia Johnson, 200m 400m.  Emmaya Waters and Annika Tracy both qualified in the 400m hurdles.
