North Carolina A&T Aggies Earn Preseason Ranking
Greensboro, NC – College Football America Yearbook released their 2019 Preseason FCS Top 30 on Monday (July 15) with the North Carolina A&T Aggies ranked No. 18.
The Aggies are the only Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) team in the poll and the only team from the two historically black conferences (Southwestern Athletic Conference, MEAC) to make the poll.
N.C. A&T is coming off a 10-2 season where they won their fourth MEAC title in five years by going 6-1 in the league. The Aggies went on to represent the MEAC in the Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl where they defeated SWAC champion and representative Alcorn State 24-22 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
By winning the game, the Aggies won their second straight Celebration Bowl and claimed their second straight HBCU national title. The Aggies have also won three out of the last four Celebration Bowls and HBCU titles.
Also, in the poll is the Aggies first 2019 opponent, the Elon Phoenix. The Phoenix enter the poll at No. 22. The No. 1 team in the poll is FCS power North Dakota State followed by South Dakota State, James Madison, Eastern Washington and Jacksonville State in the top-5.
N.C. A&T returns four starters on offense and four on defense. The Aggies will be seeking to finish nationally-ranked for the fifth straight season.
