Durham Central Park Welcomes TapCork: Durham Beer+Wine Fest July 27th
Durham, NC – The innovative event curators of Tap+Cork present the TapCork: Durham Beer+Wine Fest to downtown Durham, NC. This official Durham 150 event will be held on Saturday, July 27th, from 3:00 pm – 9:00 pm in Durham Central Park, which has been home to many Durham events such as Black August in the Park and the Durham Farmer’s Market. The beverage festival will feature a diverse variety of craft beers and fine wines from national, local, and people of color/women-owned brands.
However, the venue has not seen a block party inspired festival — such as this one — that will focus on community engagement and, most importantly, youth development in areas of the arts.
TapCork: Durham is curated by UNC-Chapel Hill English Professor & Hayti Center Artist-in-Residence Dasan Ahanu, along with Tai Allen, Jamaal Weatherspoon, and Cortni Grange. The purpose of the Tapcork event is to explore culture and community alongside great sips of beer and wine; the crafty type, the black-owned type, the brewed in Caribbean type and the Made in NC type. A party with a purpose is what the curators state that they pride themselves in providing.
In addition, a portion of ticket proceeds will benefit the youth art initiatives of the Hayti Heritage Center (Durham, NC), their work with Jambalaya Soul Slam and Bull City Slam Team — two programs supporting the youth and the arts in the Triangle.
The heart and soul of this event is to increase arts awareness for youth groups in the Durham community. Click here for more information about TapCork: Durham Beer+Wine Fest, visit http://bit.ly/tapcorkdurham .
