Coach Doeren Looks To Minimize Mistakes Heading in to Florida State
RALEIGH, NC – Coming in to the season, head coach Dave Doeren had several areas that had to be addressed on the offensive side of the ball due to rotating pieces via NFA Draft, graduation, transfer, or other reasons. The Wolfpack began the season 2-0 and had a slight buzz about them that was
reminiscent of last season’s strong start of five-straight victories that would lead to a nine-win season. After a tough loss at West Virginia on September 14, The mighty Wolfpack seemed to lose that glow and what seemed like what could be a very high-powered offense now seemed confused and unable to block or execute effectively.
NC State was able to hold off Ball State 34-23 last Saturday but coach Doeren was not the happiest about the effort. There were several highlight plays made. But in the process of making highlights, there were several key drops or miscommunication in routes that led to failing to convert key third downs. While Doeren was excited to see the highlights, he was more disappointed in missing layup-type opportunities that should be routine.
Below Coach Doeren addressed his team’s lack of execution on third down and how minimizing mistakes will be the key to success moving forward.
