[Gallery] The Epitome Of “Cool”: Power Yoga At Art Of Cool Festival

Durham, NC – What better way to start a Saturday (Sept. 28) morning than at Diamond View Park overlooking downtown Durham’s skyline, taking refreshing deep breaths, soaking up the sun, and connecting through yoga? This is exactly what Durham Power Yoga owner, Louisha Barnette, brought to the Art of Cool Festival this weekend. Women and men ready to rejuvenate their mind, body, and spirit gathered to connect and participate in Power Yoga. The morning could not have been any more perfect. There was a calming breeze and soulful music playing in the background as Louisha gracefully guided attendees through each stretch and yoga position.

The sight of all shades of sun-kissed melanin bodies moving simultaneously with one another, in sync with nature, laying, bending and stretching, and remaining one with the soulful music in an open grassy area caught the attention of those driving and walking by. It was a lovely sight to behold and radiated positive vibes.

Two Power Yoga sessions were provided to Art of Cool festival-goers, starting at 10 am and 11 am. Each session ended with 10 minutes of guided meditation. Louisha instructed attendees to relax their mind, forget all happening around them, focus on breathing, take note of each inhale and exhale, connect with themselves and connect with their wisdom. The participants appeared happy and relaxed as their session came to a close.

The free wellness series, ‘Keeping It Cool: Body, Mind & Spirit’ sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC, included two Yoga Pop-ups each in Raleigh and Charlotte prior to the festival this weekend.

Power Yoga was a great addition to the Art of Cool Festival as it allowed attendees to focus on the revitalization of their mind, body, and spirit. Now, that is the epitome of “cool.”
