Sony Pictures Animation is re-releasing The Star: The Story of the First Christmas, an animated faith-based comedy film originally released in 2017, for a limited theater run on December 7 & 8. It’s a warmhearted retelling of the first Christmas from the point of view of the animals who become accidental heroes and is perfect for the entire family and/or children’s program.

In the movie, a small but brave donkey named Bo yearns for a life beyond his daily grind at the village mill. One day he finds the courage to break free, and finally goes on the adventure of his dreams. On his journey, he teams up with Ruth, a loveable sheep who has lost her flock, and Dave, a dove with lofty aspirations. Along with three wisecracking camels and some eccentric stable animals, Bo and his new friends follow the Star and become unlikely heroes in the greatest story ever told – the first Christmas.
Sony Pictures Animation is offering a fun, 4-week Advent series for kids featuring movie clips of The Star: The Story of The First Christmas which is based on the Nativity of Jesus. It’s perfect for Sunday school or mid-week classes, with lessons and activities for ages 3-6 and 7-10.
