Salvation Army Of Wake County In Need Of 1500 Angel Adoptions By Dec. 13
RALEIGH, NC – The Salvation Army of Wake County annual Angel Tree Program began on November 8 and while over 6,000 Angels have been adopted, 1,576 Angels still need to be adopted by Friday, December 13.
“We are thankful about how the community has stepped forward to assist with the need,” said Salvation Army of Wake County area commander Al Newsome. “We still have 1,576 Angels yet to be adopted. We want to make sure that every child in need has a very merry Christmas. Adopting an Angel will go a long way towards fulfilling that child’s wishes.”
Angels can now be adopted online by logging onto The Salvation Army of Wake County website www.wakearmy.org
There are Angel Tree locations as well:
* Crabtree Valley Mall, near the Kanki entrance, lower level
* Triangle Town Center, upper-level Macy’s entrance near Reed’s Jewelers
* Walmart in Holly Springs, 7016 GB Alford Hwy, Holly Springs, NC
The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program provides new clothing and toys for children of families in need through the support of donors. Angel Trees are decorated with numbered paper angel tags with the first name, age, and gender of a child in need of gifts. Contributors remove one or more tags from the tree and purchase appropriate gifts for the child or children described on the tags.
Once a child has been registered as an “Angel,” The Salvation Army makes a promise to provide Christmas for that child. This promise includes a variety of gifts for each child. In order to accomplish this, The Salvation Army depends on the generosity of individual donors, corporations, and organizations. Last year, hundreds of companies, organizations, and individuals helped fulfill the gift requests of more than 8,000 children in Wake County who would otherwise have not had gifts at Christmas.
“The Salvation Army is grateful for the community and community partners. Because of their generosity, we can serve residents in need at Christmas and throughout the year with our social service programs,” says Major Newsome.
