Duke Showcases Scoring and New Threads in Dominant Fashion
DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke Blue Devils’ game against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons Saturday night, Jan. 11, marked the first game of the decade with their fellow students back on campus.
Duke dominated the game from start to finish and defeated Wake 90-59. Sophomore guard Tre Jones led the way with 23 points for the Blue Devils.
“I just try to take what the defense gives me,” Jones said, ” Every night, reading how they’re playing, what type of defense they’re in, who they’re shading toward, trying not to let score, things like that.”
The Blue Devils ( 15-1, 5-0 ACC) unveiled their “Brotherhood” uniforms. The threads are predominantly navy with white trim and the letters “Duke” in gothic font in addition to the letters “Brotherhood” on the shorts. The jerseys honor the university and the bond that Duke Basketball created over Krzyzewski’s four-decade tenure at Duke.

“These kind of speak for themselves – the brotherhood,” Jones said. “Coming in here and playing after everybody who’s played here, built up Duke basketball and made what this program is here today. Just having the honor to play here and put on the same jerseys they did.”
Duke freshman guard Cassius Stanley was stunned by the jerseys when he saw them the day before the game and he believed it gave the team extra motivation against the Demon Deacons.
Duke finished with five players in double-figures and five players had a plus/minus above 20.
“That’s the beauty of it,” Stanley said. “Tre and I were talking about it on the bench actually, a team can pretty much scheme for anybody and it’s not gonna stop us. It’s not gonna throw us off. We got five players on the court. If you want to triple somebody, you wanna double somebody, we’re gonna make you pay.”
