Devon Daniels Named ACC Player of the Week
RALEIGH, NC – NC State men’s basketball junior guard, Devon Daniels was named ACC Player of the Week on Monday.
ACC men’s basketball weekly honors are determined by a vote of a 15-member media panel and announced on Mondays throughout the regular season.
Daniels opened the week with a career-high 25 points and added nine rebounds in the Pack’s 88-66 win over sixth-ranked Duke. The Battle Creek, Mich., native scored 16 of his 25 points in the first half to help NC State build a 15-point halftime lead over the Blue Devils.
The 22-point win over sixth-ranked Duke is the biggest margin of victory for NC State over Duke since Jan. 7, 1978. It also marks the largest margin of defeat for Duke to an unranked opponent in the Mike Krzyzewski era.
On Saturday, Daniels led the Pack with 18 points, nine rebounds and two steals as NC State fell short to eighth-ranked Florida State, 67-61.
For the week, Daniels averaged 21.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game against two top-10 teams.
NC State returns to action Tuesday night when it plays at North Carolina. The game is scheduled to tipoff at 9 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN.
