5 Projects to Start While Living Through Stay-At-Home Order
Around half of the population of the world are currently living a vastly altered life. You might be severely restricted in what you can and can’t do. Either residing in complete isolation at home or limiting your movements, only going out for shopping and healthcare. Many of us are working from home for the first time or taking an extended break from work, while the pandemic rages on.
Some people are bored. They’re off work, they’ve got little to do, and they are finding a loss of freedom challenging. Other people are actually busier than ever. They might be working from home, trying to home educate, and making changes to their businesses to keep making money. Of course, some of us are ill or protecting ourselves stringently because of underlying health issues and other risk factors.
Of course, if you are a key worker, you won’t have more time at home. Actually, you may be at home significantly less, and when you are, you should be resting and taking care of yourself. If, however, you fall into the bored group, here are some projects that you could get started on, while you are spending more time than usual at home.
Return to Education
Have you ever thought about going back to school? You could use this time to enroll with Northeastern University, perhaps to start a new career once all of this is over.
Learn to Cook or Bake
There’s never been a better time to learn some new skills in the kitchen. You may be having a hard time buying all of the ingredients which you usually use, and if you eat out a lot, you might not be able to. So, practice. Try some new recipes, buy different ingredients, and bake yourself some treats.
Learn a New Language
This is a fantastic time to learn a new language. If you’ve got a trip coming up, start learning the language now. If not, think about languages that you’ve always been interested in, or places that you have visited in the past.
The best way to learn a language is with a little practice every day, so make the most of this opportunity to learn and living to try to look forward to your daily practice.
Get Fit
One thing that you may be worried about is your fitness. You can’t go to the gym, and you may not be able to (or want to) or for long runs or bike rides in public.
But, keeping fit can boost your immunity, help you to relax and keep you healthy. So, spend some time working out at home. Yoga routines could help you to keep anxiety at bay, and HITT workouts could boost your heart rate and keep your stamina up.
Learn to Prioritize Self-Care
We’re living through a global pandemic, which is killing hundreds of thousands of people. If you survive this, your time has been well spent. You may feel anxious and worried, and you certainly don’t need the added pressure of a project.
If starting something helps take your mind off it, that’s great. But, self-care should be your priority. Take care of yourself, stay safe, and do things that make you happy. See anything else that you get done as a bonus.
