The Best Celebrity Golfers Tearing Up The Links
Pro-Am tournaments are fun to watch and there are some pretty good amateur golfers out there. Below are the best celebrity golfers on the course.
There’s a strange thing that happens among celebrities: they all want to be what they’re not. Professional athletes want to be rappers or actors, rappers want to be professional athletes or actors, and actors want to be professional athletes. It’s a strange phenomenon that is worthy of scrutiny and more ink than is available here. Suffice it to say that even at the top of the pyramid, no one is happy at their station in life. C’est la vie.
Fortunately for these people, there is crossover potential, but it’s easiest for the athletes to transition to acting or singing. There is yet to be an actor that gave it all up to play linebacker for the Chicago Bears, but there have been plenty of pros that went on to become actors. And even if they have a swing as odd as Bryson DeChambeau’s, there are some actors that are pretty good golfers, though, and could be pros. Here are the best celebrity golfers who are tearing up the courses.
One of the best entertainers in the world, Timberlake can sing, dance, act, and apparently play golf. He is a regular at the celebrity Pro-Ams and usually finishes towards the top of the leaderboard.
It only makes sense that the star of Caddyshack is a good golfer. Murray is famous for popping up on courses and hitting balls with fans. He loves the game so much that he and his brothers launched a line of golf apparel.
Matt McConaughey
The top bro in Hollywood and Texas native is no stranger to the links. The star of dozens of movies can hit the ball long, short, and with a fade—it doesn’t matter. He was on his high school golf team and has kept up his love of the game since.
Celine Dion
Surprised by this one? The Canadian songstress with a powerful voice and huge range can go shot-for-shot with anyone, male or female. She boasts a 17 handicap that anyone would be happy with. Oh yeah, she has her own course too, Le Mirage.
Alice Cooper
Probably the most interesting celebrity on this list of golfers who are tearing up the courses is Alice Cooper. The original shock rocker and ghoulish frontman used golf as a way to conquer his addictions and better his life. Without golf, he probably wouldn’t have had the long career that he has. He wrote a book telling the tale, called Golf Monster: My 12 Steps to Becoming a Golf Addict, which details how the game helped him with sobriety.
