Local Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Chapter Awards Annual Educational Scholarships

Chapel Hill, NC – Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated encourages and supports the advancement of educational opportunities for all. The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta carries out the charge by awarding scholarships to graduating students in the chapter’s service area of Orange and Chatham Counties. The chapter has awarded over $176,500 in scholarship aid to 242 students since its charter on March 18, 1979.

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. recently awarded $5,650.00 in scholarships to four (4) graduating seniors in Chatham and Orange County schools.

Amaya Royster (East Chapel Hill High School) is the recipient of the newly established Ishna J. Hall Scholarship and will attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, was awarded $2,500.00.

Miles Merriweather (East Chapel High School) will attend North Carolina State University, was awarded $1,350.00.

Brookie Currie (Orange High School) will attend Winston Salem State University, was awarded $1,100.00.

Jazzmin Abernathy (Orange High School) will attend Durham Technical Community College, was awarded $700.00.
