NFL Collaborates with SAU School of Business for Student Development Initiatives
RALEIGH, NC – The National Football League (NFL) and Saint Augustine’s University School of Business, Management & Technology are collaborating to provide educational programming and initiatives to assist students with the development and career preparedness in the sports and business industry sectors. The relationship builds on the NFL’s Campus Connection program, an initiative that prepares students for careers in football administration, as part of the league’s ongoing commitment to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
The NFL will assist SAU’s Business School students with innovative programs designed to increase practical business skills, grow critical networking and leadership skills, and use the organizational components of sport as a teaching tool. Beginning the fall semester of 2020, the league will support networking development sessions and seminars with industry executives. Also, as part of this effort, SAU will further develop its e-sport program. These efforts aim to provide access to learning opportunities focused on the evolving requirements to be successful in several industries and careers.
“We are extremely excited about this relationship and the value it will bring to both organizations, said Dean Van Sapp, Saint Augustine’s University School of Business, Management & Technology. I am confident that our students will benefit greatly from a collaboration that focuses on building leadership skills and using innovative approaches for student growth.”
“The NFL Campus Connection support of Saint Augustine’s e-sport program is aimed at developing students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities,” said Troy Vincent, NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations. “This is part of our ongoing and continuous commitment to celebrating Black excellence and the impact HBCUs has on the game of football, driving awareness around career opportunities, and providing access to the business of sport.”
Campus Connection is just one of several HBCU-focused programs the NFL has implemented to recognize and strengthen its relationships with HBCUs across the country.
