Duke Announces 2020 Football Schedule

DURHAM, N.C. – In conjunction with the Atlantic Coast Conference, Duke announced Thursday its amended 2020 football schedule which features six home games at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium.

The revised ACC schedule includes 10 league games and one non-conference contest for each school. The 11 games will be played over at least 13 weeks with each team having two open dates. The ACC has also adopted a 15-team, one division model, which includes Notre Dame, for the upcoming season.

The Blue Devils will open on the road at Notre Dame on Saturday, Sept. 12. Duke is then home for back-to-back contests against Boston College (Saturday, Sept. 19) and, following an open date, Virginia Tech (Saturday, Oct. 3). For their next two games, the Blue Devils are back on the road at Syracuse (Saturday, Oct.10) and N.C. State (Saturday, Oct. 17). Duke will then close the month of October with its second open date (Oct. 24) and lone non-conference game by hosting Charlotte on Halloween (Saturday, Oct. 31).

November kicks off with a home contest against North Carolina on the 7th before the Blue Devils head to Charlottesville, Va., a week later to face Virginia. A home contest against Wake Forest on Saturday, Nov. 21, a road game at Georgia Tech on Saturday, Nov. 28 and one final home game versus Florida State on Saturday, Dec. 5 close regular season.

Television selections for each game will be released in the future.

The ACC Football Championship Game will be played on either December 12 or 19 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, and will feature the top two teams based upon highest conference-game winning percentage.

The ACC’s Medical Advisory Group, which has been meeting weekly since the spring to share information on the impact of COVID-19 on ACC campuses and intercollegiate athletics, has recommended minimum standards for each campus to follow as fall sports return. Among those recommendations are weekly testing for close contact sports, standards for reporting positive test results, and protocols for cleaning and sanitizing competition areas. The ACC recognizes the uncertain and challenging environment all areas of our society are facing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Intercollegiate athletics is just one area that we must address as we work to return to our campuses, bring back students and faculty when possible, and pursue our academic missions and goals as part of higher education. The health, safety and well-being of all our campus constituents is at the forefront of all decisions. Should any future adjustments be necessary, the ACC Board of Directors will do so at the appropriate time.
