[VIDEO] Coach K Speaks With Media Ahead of 2020-2021 Basketball Season
DURHAM, N.C. – On Wednesday, Duke basketball head coach Mike Krzyzewski spoke with the media ahead of the 2020-2021 basketball season.
Coach K started the press conference speaking on the fact that it has been difficult preparing for their first game on November 25 with no opponent set. Krzyzewski expects to have a deeper rotation than usual, but not going to be equal time played. Matt Hurt is expected to have a big season after gaining 20lbs over the break and also refining his skills.
Also on Wednesday, Coach K provided an update on Tre Jones, Cassius Stanley, and Vernon Carey Jr and how they are preparing for the NBA Draft in November.
Sticking to the media with the NBA theme, the Duke coach also touched on his relationship with Kobe Bryant in the early 2000s and his thought process between staying at Duke and accepting the job offer from Celtics and why he decided to stay.
The biggest thing Coach K lamented on was Nolan Smith and his maturation process between when he came in as a freshman player to now being a coach, being an important role in the Duke basketball program, and also being a key person in the Black Lives Matter movement in Durham.
Coach K will be entering his 41st season at Duke. The legendary coach currently holds a 1,157-350 record in his 45 years as a head coach, including a 1,084-291 mark in 40 seasons at Duke.
