Hockman, Thayer Lead NC State Win Over FSU
RALEIGH, N.C. – The North Carolina State Wolfpack defeated the Florida State Seminoles 38-16 on Saturday Night. NC State quarterback Bailey Hockman finished the game 24-for-34 265 yards, three passing touchdowns, and a rushing touchdown despite one interception.
Thayer Thomas finished the game with 11 receptions for 135 yards and two touchdowns, all new career-highs for the junior receiver.
Sophomore running back Zonovan ‘Bam’ Knight put some tough runs together to end the game with 97 yards on 17 carries.
The defense held strong in the first half, holding Florida State to only three points in the first half while putting up 21 points in the same timespan. The second half continued to be the weak point for the defense, which allowed 19 points including a big 69-yard touchdown pass from Florida State quarterback Chubba Purdy to wide receiver Ontaria Wilson late in the fourth quarter.
Junior linebacker Isaiah Moore talked a little bit about not giving away the game late after giving up 40 points in back-to-back games heading into the FSU game, calling their efforts “big” after holding FSU to only two touchdowns.
Moore continued by saying that the win is “definitely a win we can build upon next week”
The Wolfpack will host undefeated 22-ranked Liberty next Saturday, November 21st at 7:30 pm.
