[TRAILER, REVIEW] TV One’s ‘CHRISTMAS DILEMMA’ Stars BJ Britt, Brittany Hall, Carl Payne

brittTV One’s new original holiday film ‘CHRISTMAS DILEMMA,’ filmed in Atlanta, stars BJ Britt (Being Mary Jane, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Brittany Hall (Ballers, Satisfaction), Carl Anthony Payne II (Martin, 5th Ward), and Christopher B. Duncan (Black Lightning, The Jamie Foxx Show).  The movie follows a newlywed couple Jay (Britt) and Monica (Hall) as they struggle to decide which set of in-laws they should join for their first Christmas. After each pleads their case and even attempts a little trickery, they decide to bypass the guaranteed disappointment of picking one family over the other. Unbeknownst to them, the decision is made for them when their families show up at their home unexpectedly. Drama ensues as the in-laws’ clash, long-lost relatives decide to make an appearance, and Jay’s grandmother joins the holiday festivities accompanied by her caretaker who just happens to be Jay’s gorgeous ex-girlfriend.

REVIEW:

‘CHRISTMAS DILEMMA’ gives us a feel for the modern holiday couples experience on whose family to spend with for the holidays. After debates and continuous conversations, both families show at their home without warning. What a disaster! This movie reminded me of the 2005 film ‘Guess Who’ which starred Zoe Saldana as Theresa and her fiancée Simon played by Ashton Kutcher, in which she took him home to meet her parents to reveal their engagement, and that they are a mixed-race couple. Drama collided when both families find out their daughter and son have decided to elope. Just like ‘CHRISTMAS DILEMMA,’, both families have clashing personalities and Jay’s grandmother shows up with his ex-girlfriend. Overall, this movie gets us in the spirit of the realization that we may not always enjoy our extended families! 3.5/5 stars
