Triangle United Way MLK Day Of Service 2021: Give Back From A Safe Distance
Research Triangle, NC – This year marks the 26th annual Day of Service in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. While things look a little different, your impact on your neighbors in need can be as strong as ever.
Join United Way of the Greater Triangle for a physically-distanced supply drive to support four local nonprofits working overtime to stabilize and service vulnerable residents during the COVID-19 pandemic.
See below for a full list of needed supplies as well as exclusive and fun learning activities for the whole family on this day of service!

Individuals can drop-off supplies at either the Wake County or Durham County location. Please place items in the designated collection boxes upon arrival.

Wake County
All supplies will help create gratitude kits for the people that Meals on Wheels of Wake County serves. Choose at least 3 items from the list below to create a supply kit. Label all bags for donation with the appropriate organization’s name.
1. Gallon zip lock bags
2. Trash bags
3. Toilet paper (4-pack)
4. Small dish detergent
5. Cleaning sponges
Durham County
All supplies will help create hygiene kits for the individuals that Urban Ministries of Durham supports. Choose at least 3 items from the list below to create a supply kit. Label all bags for donation with the appropriate organization’s name.
1. Gallon zip lock bags
2. Bar soap (1 regular bar or 2 small bars)
3. Shampoo (2 hotel size or 2 small bottles)
4. Lotion (hotel size or large container that fits in the bag)
5. Deodorant (small travel size)
6. Toothbrush
7. Toothpaste (full-size tube preferred; tube only, please discard the box)
8. Washcloth
Orange County
Supplies needed to help create housing kits for Inter-Faith Council for Social Services’ clients. Choose at least 3 items from the list below to create a supply kit. Label all bags for donation with the appropriate organization’s name.

3. Dishwashing detergent
4. General purpose cleaner
5. Paper towels
6. Toilet paper
7. Gift cards (Walmart, Target, Food Lion)

Supplies needed to help create virtual learning kits for youth served by Johnston Lee Harnett Community Action. Choose at least 3 items from the list below to create a supply kit. Label all bags for donation with the appropriate organization’s name.
