Tar Heels Upset FSU For William’s 900th Win
The Florida State fall to the North Carolina Tar Heels seemed unlikely as the unranked UNC team faced off against the 11th ranked Seminoles. The Tar Heels quickly lost their lead in the first half and seemed to be flailing behind the Seminoles as they amassed 14 turnovers and saw Armando Bacot forced to sit on the bench after three fouls, as the Seminoles led the Heels by the score of 41 to 29.
Coach Roy Williams said of the first half, “We were as ugly as can be”. While inside the locker room during halftime, Coach Williams explained the things they needed to do to regain the lead and win the first game this season with fans.
UNC started the second half by scoring two straight baskets with an exclamation mark by freshman Walker Kessler as he brought the fans out of their seats with a two-handed dunk. The UNC team started to find their stride as they capitalized on three Florida State turnovers as they retook the lead with 14:55 left in the game from a monstrous dunk from Kessler as the freshman found himself leading the team in points, filling the void left by Bacot as he sat the bench in foul trouble.
Near the middle of the second half, Florida State mounted a comeback as both teams swapped leads for a few minutes before the Tar Heels proved too much for the Seminoles and took the driver’s seat to control the tempo of the game. As Kerwin Walton drained a three with five minutes left in the game, the Tar Heels seemed unstoppable as Bacot returned to play.
This game, unlike other games this season, the Heels knocked down their free throws and proved they could not be contained by being forced to the foul line as the North Carolina Tar Heels, won with a final score of 78 to 70.
After the game, Coach Roy Williams spoke of the tremendous play of Walker Kessler saying, “He is a kid that really cares.” As he went on to explain how happy he was for his player. With the Tar Heels win, Tar Heel fans everywhere are hopeful they will continue to improve as they enter a difficult part of their season.
North Carolina, (15-8, 9-5 ACC) looks to continue their NCAA Tournament resume, as they take on the Syracuse Orange on, Monday, March 1st. Tip-off is set for 7 pm on ESPN.
Good stuff!
Howdy just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in your content seem to be running off the screen in Chrome. I’m not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to let you know. The layout look great though! Hope you get the issue resolved soon. Cheers
Its like you learn my mind! You seem to grasp so much about this, such as you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you simply could do with some to pressure the message home a little bit, however instead of that, this is wonderful blog. An excellent read. I will certainly be back.
