NCCU to Open COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic March 9-11; NCCU Alumnus Gets Shot, Tells Why

North Carolina Central University (NCCU) is a COVID-19 vaccine distribution site. The university has received a limited supply of the COVID-19 vaccine and will be offering doses on a first-come, first-served basis. 

If you’re still unsure about getting the vaccine, please scroll down and watch activist, faith leader, and NCCU alumnus Rev. Dr. William Barber II of the Poor People’s Campaign and NCDHHS Secretary Dr. Mandy Cohen get their COVID-19 vaccine at the PNC Arena drive-thru clinic. They also explain why they chose to get vaccinated in hopes of dispelling myths about the vaccine. 

WHAT: NCCU has received a limited supply of the COVID-19 vaccine and will open its clinic to individuals on campus and in the community.

WHEN: The COVID-19 vaccine clinic will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, through Thursday, March 11. (Hours may vary based on vaccine availability.)

WHO: Individuals on the NCCU campus and from the greater Durham community who are eligible as members of Groups 1, 2, and 3 may register for an appointment.

Please only indicate your interest if you are available to be vaccinated during the times noted above (March 9-11, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.).

Eligible Groups for Vaccine:
Group 1: Health care workers & Long-Term Care staff and residents
  • Health care workers with in-person patient contact
  • Long-term care staff and residents—people in skilled nursing facilities, adult care homes, and continuing care retirement communities
Group 2: Older adults
  • Anyone 65 years or older, regardless of health status or living situation
Group 3: Frontline Essential Workers
  • Frontline essential workers are people who must be in-person at their place of work and work in one of these eight essential sectors: critical manufacturing, education, essential goods, food and agriculture, government and community services, health care and public health, public safety, and transportation.
