Saint Augustine’s University Releases 2021 Football Schedule

RALEIGH, NC – Four thrilling home games, including a Raleigh Classic match-up against crosstown rival Shaw, highlight the 2021 Saint Augustine’s University (SAU) football schedule.

The home contests are part of a nine-game schedule for the Falcons, who last hit the gridiron in November 2019.

The upcoming season will begin the David Bowser era. The Falcons’ head coach was hired shortly after the conclusion of the 2019 season. Preparation for the 2020 season ended after the CIAA canceled fall sports because of COVID-19.

“Anticipation is high as we approach the upcoming season,” Bowser said. “The guys are anxious to get started after being away from the game for so long.”

The Falcons open the season at home on Sept. 4 against Tusculum. The contest is designated as Donor Appreciation Day and Prostate Cancer Awareness Day.

The remaining three home games are also can’t-miss affairs. Homecoming is Sept. 25 against Chowan of the CIAA Northern Division. The game is also designated as Hall of Fame Day.

The final two home games will draw huge local interest. The Falcons host CIAA Southern Division rivals Fayetteville State on Oct. 23 and Shaw on Nov. 6.

Coach Bowser and his troops will be fired up for both contests. Bowser was a long-time assistant head coach and assistant coach with the Broncos before arriving at Saint Augustine’s University. The contest is designated as The Pink Game (Breast Cancer Awareness) and Student-Life Day.

The Falcons and Bears, who are crosstown rivals, square off in the fifth annual Raleigh Classic on Senior Day and Military Appreciation Day.

Home games will be played at the George Williams Athletic Complex with a 1 p.m. kickoff time.

The remaining schedule includes five away games, including the first-ever meeting against Limestone on Sept. 11. In October, SAU enters a three-game road stretch against CIAA Northern Division power Virginia State (Oct. 2), Livingstone (Oct. 9), and perennial CIAA Southern Division contender Winston-Salem State (Oct. 16).

Sept 18 is an open date for the Falcons.
