Bulls Drop Final Game in Jacksonville Series
DURHAM NC- The Durham Bulls dropped the final game of their series despite having an early lead against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp by a final score of 8-3. The defeat puts them at 7-5 on their year, losing four out of six versus Jacksonville.
The Bulls wasted no time to get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first with a three-run homer from Ryan Boldt against Jacksonville’s starting pitcher Shawn Morimando.
The Jumbo Shrimp responded in the third, delivering a six-run inning. Eddy Alvarez started the scoring, knocking in a double to bring in Bryson Brigman. Jesus Sanchez then tripled off a ground ball to Boldt’s side of the field, and with that, Alvarez and Diaz scored. Then, Brian Miller’s sent a line-drive single that scored Sanchez, giving them a 4-3 lead.
Later in the inning, Luis Marte sent a two-run homer to left-fiend bringing in Miller. The Bulls put up another run in the bottom of the sixth with a Nathan Luke groundout that put Brett Sullivan to the dugout.
The Shrimp responded at the top of the seventh with a solo homer to left field off the bat of Monte Harrison. It was his second of the season, making the score 7-4 that ultimately would be the final.
The Durham Bulls (7-5) do not have long to ponder on the loss, as they will face the Charlotte Knights Tuesday, May 18th, to kick off a six games series.
