Langley Selected as Fellow with American Express Social Justice Leadership Academy
Durham, NC – DeWarren K. Langley has been selected as one of sixty-five Social Justice Fellows of the American Express Social Justice Leadership Academy.
Langley serves as Executive Director of the Charles Hamilton Houston Foundation, Inc. working to educate, engage, empower and equip boys and young men of color with the strategies they need to secure socioeconomic success. He accomplishes this by delivering innovative leadership and professional development programs for college and career readiness, facilitating connections with professional opportunities. The desired results are that youth become high-results leaders in corporations, government, nonprofits, and entrepreneurial ventures and transforming academic policies and practices.
The American Express Social Justice Leadership Academy is an 8-month leadership development program focused on 360-degree evaluations and self-assessments; executive coaching; small and large group reflection and planning exercises; networking events; site visits to historically significant civil rights sights; and lessons on movement-building and social change principles to equip high potential emerging leaders from the social sector to become successful executives and help their organizations’ achieve sustainable growth, effective program implementation and overall success.
The Academy has been created in partnership with the Center for Creative Leadership, Beloved Community Center of Greensboro, Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics, Americans for Indian Opportunity, Hispanics in Philanthropy, Cities United, and the Corporation for Black Male Achievement, LLC.
