Henley Falls Flat, Kisner Wins Wyndham Championship
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Kevin Kisner would knock down a two-foot putt to win a six-man playoff and won the 2021 Wyndham Championship.
Entering the day, Russell Henley led the way for the first three rounds but would bogey 18 to drop to 14-under and would miss the playoff holes by one stroke.
Entering the weekend, all three players that held the lead after 54 holes failed to hold on to the lead on the final day and Henley became the fourth.
In a six-man playoff between Si Woo Kim, Kevin Na, Adam Scott, Roger Sloan, Brenden Grace, and Kevin Kisner.
All would find interesting ways to make par with Scott having a four-foot putt that he pushed wide right to allow a second playoff hole.
On a repeat of hole 18, Kisner made a birdie on the second playoff hole to win the Wyndham Championship in a six-man playoff.
Kisner, who was 0-5 in playoffs in his PGA TOUR career before this week, earns his fourth PGA TOUR title and first since the 2019 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.
As a reward for the victory in the season finale, Kisner earned $1,152,000 and 500 FexEx Cup points.
Sloan, Scott, Grace, Na, and Kim would all make par or worse on the second playoff hole. Each player was credited with finishing 15-under for the round.
Players will look to rest up quickly a the first leg of the PGA Tour Playoffs will begin at the Northern Trust Open at Liberty National Golf Course in Liberty City, New Jersey from August 19-22.
