Charlotte vs Duke: How To Watch
Charlotte, N.C. – The Duke Blue Devils will head to Charlotte to face the Charlotte 49ers as both teams look to battle to open the season on Friday, September 3.
The game will be broadcasted live on CBS Sports Network with the start time set for 7 p.m.
The Blue Devils lead the all-time series 1-0 after a 53-19 Halloween night victory in Durham a season ago. The running back duo of Deon Jackson and Mataeo Durant led the way by combining for 205 yards and four touchdowns while each registered two scores and both surpassed 100-yards rushing.
Duke holds a 39-16 (.709) overall non-conference record under head coach David Cutcliffe. In the last 25 regular-season non-conference games, Duke is 20-5. (TEAM NOTES > NON-CONF WINS)
Senior Mataeo Durant returns as the ACC’s top running back in yards per carry after averaging 6.81 in 2020, which placed him fourth in Duke single-season history.
Chartered Graduate student, Gunnar Holmberg, makes his appearance as the starting quarterback. Holmberg hopes to bring the Blue Devils some stability in the quarterback position that has seen a lot of turnover in recent years.
On the defensive side of the ball, Duke ranked 4th in the ACC last year for yards allowed with 231.6 per game. Out of the seven players that had at least one interception for Duke last season, four of them are returning, including Jeremiah Lewis who snagged two for the Blue Devils last year.
